For the last week or more, gulls have been mostly absent from the sandbars
and logs of the delta, probably because the airport noisemaker has been very
effective. But over the last several days, a few gulls have been coming
back, mostly closer in toward the boathouse than previously. And today
(Sunday) at 11:30, there is a Franklin's, once again. Not much in the way
of shorebirds except Killdeer and what probably were Western Sandpipers.
Lot and lots of American Coots. On Friday at about 1:30 there was a single
Cackling Goose, with two Canadas at the edge of a raft of coots. And a few
Double-crested Cormorants have arrived for the winter.
