Jim — when you speak of old growth forest, I think in particular of
resident Goshawks. I suggest to not penetrate into the forest. I suggest to
leave the nesting raptors alone, during the nesting season. Therefore, to
answer your question, NG will be at the nest site, June through August. I
stay out of the forest and look into and over the forest from afar, and
treat raptors in  the perspective of being a hawk watcher. Also, Cooper’s
Hawks will nest in the same forest. Nelson Briefer — goshawk specialist —
