Hello PCC Community,

The PCC Summer Institute <https://pcc.uw.edu/events/pcc-summer-institute/> is
held annually at Friday Harbor Labs <https://fhl.uw.edu/>on San Juan
Island in early to mid September, and focuses on a different topic each
year. This year the topic was determined through a combination of input
from the PCC community, including voting at the Spring Welcome event, and
broader considerations of past and future topics by the PCC board
<https://pcc.uw.edu/people/governing-board/>. We are very excited to
announce that Aaron Donohoe
<https://apl.uw.edu/people/profile.php?last_name=Donohoe&first_name=Aaron>,
Senior Research Scientist, Polar Science Center, APL, has signed on as lead
organizer of this years' Summer Institute. Special mention here, that
beside Aaron's polar science expertise, as a graduate student in
Atmospheric Sciences in 2006 he was instrumental in the creation of the
first, now very popular, Graduate Climate Conference
<https://pcc.uw.edu/events/graduate-climate-conference/> (GCC).

*2023 PCC Summer Institute*
*Theme: Climate Change at the Poles*
*Organizer: Aaron Donohoe (Senior Research Scientist, Polar Science Center,
APL)*
*Dates: Sept 11 to Sept 13*
*Location: Friday Harbor Labs on San Juan Island*

The PCC covers room and board for 75 participants--roughly half the
participants are graduate students and postdocs and the balance are
faculty, research scientists and invited speakers. Five external speakers
will be invited to join us to share their areas of expertise and there will
be lots of time for conversation over meals and exploring San Juan Island
on Tuesday afternoon. We ask that all attendees join with the intention of
participating in all sessions.

So, save the date! Registration and additional details will be available in
early summer.

Best,
Miriam
