From wyc_info at u.washington.edu Sat Feb 15 08:00:00 2025 From: wyc_info at u.washington.edu (WYC Commodore via wyc_info) Date: Sat Feb 15 08:02:07 2025 Subject: [WYC Announce] Sail Locker Door Code Change Message-ID: Sailors! ? For routine security reasons, we have changed the Sail Locker door code. An email with the new code will be sent immediately afterward to current members who hold the required dinghy and keelboat ratings. If you believe you should receive the new code but do not, it may be due to one of the following reasons: - Your dinghy Novice rating has expired after 6 months. We hope you try for it again, or an Intermediate rating, at a Supervised Sailing event! - Your membership needs to be renewed . You may do so via the Join form on our website. - Your rating has not been entered by your Ratings Examiner. - Your email address needs to be updated. You may check/update your information on our database with your WYCID and password. - Another error in our system. If you don?t receive the new door code email shortly after this one and believe you should, please contact Officers via the contact@washingtonyachtclub.org email address so we can restore your access if we missed you by mistake. For those who receive the new code, DO NOT share it with anyone. If you do not receive the new code, DO NOT ask another member to share it with you; please ask Officers for a clarification instead. ------------------------------ While we?re here, please check out our upcoming social events to meet fellow club members while it?s cold out! - Board Game Night on Wednesday, February 19th, 5:30?7:30pm - Knots & Bights Social on Tuesday February 25th, 6:30?8pm - Nordic Museum Visit on Thursday, March 6th, 6?8pm Let us know you?re coming by enrolling in them on our Lessons page ! We will hold a *General Meeting next Wednesday at 6:00pm in Sieg 420*. In this meeting we will catch members up on recent ongoings in the club and get organized for the rest of Winter and Spring. Additionally, here is a new policy proposed by Vice Commodore Yoochan An to be voted on during the upcoming meeting. The idea that DH-rated sailors should be able to sail Bravos came up in Fall of 2024 during the Dinghy Instructor Meeting, and the corresponding policy needs approval of the general membership. The proposed policy is as follows: From: WASHINGTON YACHT CLUB POLICIES Section B. Ratings Requirements and Privileges 4. Dinghy Novice Ratings d. Types ii. Double-Handed Novice The test may be performed in an FJ, Laser II, or Vision, and qualifies the holder to sail the FJ, Laser II, Vision, and Flying Scot To: WASHINGTON YACHT CLUB POLICIES Section B. Ratings Requirements and Privileges 4. Dinghy Novice Ratings d. Types ii. Double-Handed Novice The test may be performed in an FJ, or Vision, and qualifies the holder to sail the Bravo, FJ, Vision, and Flying Scot Changes made: deletion of Laser II (as we no longer have this boat), insertion of Bravo to DH-sailable boats. Any WYC member may propose changes to our legislative documents during a General Meeting. See you soon at General Meeting or one of our social events !
