Message-ID: Dear Friends of WYC, Christmas is upon us! In this holiday season, we wish you a long-deserved rest after a busy year of bustling opportunities and fresh challenges. And what a year it has been. Dock Renovations will kick off this summer, and I am happy to announce that the WYC is hopeful in keeping its operations at the new dock space. For our fairweathered sailors the warm season may be over, but at the WYC we?ve pulled out the wetsuits and foulies and are anticipating an exciting Winter season. We have more lessons and activities planned for this winter quarter than any other winter quarter before, with lessons every week and possibilities for supervised sailing. We also host social events, such as our cruises with Argosy Christmas Ship which brought over 40 members to the water this December. I am also glad to announce a significant advancement in affordability through our new scholarship program, supported by our generous donors and the Seattle Yacht Club Foundation. With $2,500 in annual funding for 2026, we can provide free membership to 10 students each quarter. More details will be available in another announcement. Just as the time-honored Christmas traditions that brighten this season, the WYC is also stuck in our age-old tradition of financial hardship. With a lower membership fee than any other similar club and an insurance cost that accounts for over 70% of this year?s budget, we need to work with less than ever while addressing increasing challenges with boat disposal and maintenance. Keeping sailing accessible is only sustainable with your support and generosity. You can spread the joy of sailing with another student this holiday season. Here?s how your monetary contribution can help our Club: - $30 can provide the resources for a free dinghy lesson for one passionate student. - $60 opens the door to a whole academic quarter?s worth of participation. - $100 can support the yearlong maintenance of one boat, ensuring every student gets a safe ride. (Let us know if you want to choose which boat to adopt!). - Additionally, you can also donate specifically to the WYC scholarship program, which is only possible through last year?s Christmas gifts. You can make your tax-deductible donation by visiting our Square Store: https://washington-yacht-club.square.site/ No contribution is too small, and we express our deepest gratitude to every donor. This Christmas, let us come together to introduce more students to the world of sailing. Your support means the world to us and will have a positive impact on the students whose lives you?ll touch. It also takes a lot more than just money to run the WYC, and we are always looking for more people to help out. If you are interested in teaching a class/clinic, running a regatta, helping with repair/maintenance, or raising money for the club, please contact us at contact@washingtonyachtclub.org, or just stop by the docks and say hi. Thank you for considering our cause and for being a part of this special season of giving. We wish you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season and a blessed Christmas!
