This position will provide policy expertise, advice, and assistance to local governments, Oregon Coastal Management Program (OCMP) staff, and other state or federal agencies on the policies of the Oregon Coastal Management Program, with emphasis on Statewide Planning Goals 18 (Beaches and Dunes) and 7 (Hazards).
This position will provide technical assistance to local governments on coastal shore land issues including geologic and ocean processes, hazards including sea level rise and bluff/beach erosion, shorefront protective structures, and related topics.  This position will advise on coastal local shore land issues, respond to development proposals in coastal shore areas, act as a liaison to the scientific research community, and keep DLCD staff and local governments informed on existing and changing requirements.

This position will support the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) in Oregon, which includes technical assistance to and compliance review of cities and counties participating in the NFIP. This position assists the State Coordinator for the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

  *   Review cities and counties for compliance with the requirements of the NFIP.
  *   Education and outreach to broad audiences about NFIP and flood hazards.
  *   Provide technical advice related to NFIP.
  *   Assist cities and counties with disaster recovery.
This is a limited duration position anticipated to last through June 30, 2023.  This position may become permanent pending future funding.
