Film plays a vital role in the formation of opinions, positive and negative stereotypes, and cultural perceptions. In the United States, cinema has been used to influence countries towards an Americanized standard of living. Recent academia has seen a growing interest in how film has been utilized in the United States, China, India and more. The conversation will cover various areas of global cinema that showcase it as a vehicle for soft power. I got a call for help from a past expert in Vertov Richard Bossons of UK, see blow. A worthy cause, and a great initiative, especially since tomorrow is a 100th anniversary of the Dovzhenko (WUFKU) studio in Kiev. Daria Khitrova and I will donate from our budget. I hope you will be able to contribute and/or spread the word. Slava Ukraine! Its precious archive of over 7000 Ukrainian and foreign films is under threat from Russian explosives and Putin's desire to destroy Ukrainian culture. Many of its staff have evacuated or joined up and it is very short of funds. I would appreciate it if you could spread the word to colleagues and friends, and in social media. In two days we have reached nearly half of our target! International donations can be made through Paypal.
