<p class="MsoPlainText">Five of us waded through the rain-soaked fairways and roughs at the JBLM Eagle’s Pride GC on Thursday, with the rain bucketing down most of the time and the temperature not changing much from the 43degF at the start. Many of the golf
holes had new water hazards, some even on the greens! Because of the downpour and paucity of bird species, we curtailed our usual route by about half – the first time we’ve done that since we started this birdwalk in 2013.

<p class="MsoPlainText">Significantly, we had very few forest birds – not even a calling Red-breasted Nuthatch, which was very surprising since this species is a regular. We did, however, garner some waterfowl at Hodge Lake – birds that we didn’t have any
of at that site last month.<o:p></o:p></p>
