<div>This is International Vulture Awareness Day so hope you look up and get to see one of our local representatives. My trees always get in the way here! Anyway, here are some sightings for August of 2025 from Washington Oregon and British Columbia. September is always an interesting month for migrating vultures so hope they put on a good show this year, as usual. I already have two intriguing reports so hope there are lots more. </div>

<div><u>AUGUST</u></div>
<div>02 -- 13 TUVU coming in from the northwest and continuing on to the southeast over Kennedy Creek Estuary, Thurston/Mason Counties - they ascended in a thermal to the northwest, crossed Totten Inlet (narrow) and then soared directly to the southeast. </div>
<div>03 -- Six turkey vultures in Osprey Park, Sultan, Snohomish County.</div>
<div>04 -- Two at the Elwha River mouth on a sunny, 61* day, Clallam County.</div>
<div>09 -- Four seen at Beacon Rock State Park, Paradise Meadows, Skamania County, Oregon.</div>
<div>10 -- Six turkey vultures at Strathcona Park, B.C. (numbers are growing up there!)</div>
<div>16 -- Sixteen were seen at Crescent Lake WMA, Snohomish County.</div>
<div>22 -- At Cape Sante Park in Skagit County, four vultures were seen.</div>
<div>24 -- Seven seen at Cowichan Bay, B.C.</div>
<div>25 -- Seven sitting in the trees around a house in Ocean Shores, Grays Harbor County.</div>
<div>26 -- One over Dutch Hill in Snohomish, Snohomish County.</div>
<div>28 -- Three turkey vultures beelining south/southeast over east Olympia, Thurston County, could tell two were adults.</div>
<div>30 -- Twelve turkey vultures soaring over Snoqualmie just east of the bus barn, King County; one vulture two miles south of College Place, Walla Walla County. (photo of yellow bird!).</div>
