Walked the north beach of Marrowstone Island yesterday (4/19) afternoon and saw a flock of ~22 Whimbrels about halfway between the camping area and the lighthouse point.  We got excellent views as they fed on the upland sand - hard to tell what they were after. 


 They headed offshore and I lost sight of them as they headed east.  I see on ebird a similar size group was seen yesterday afternoon at Ebey's Landing and it is hard not to wonder if that was the same group.  </div>

This was a nice birdy area yesterday with dispersed groups of Brant, Surf Scoters, Horned Grebes, etc. but the Whimbrels were the star of the show.  Lovely sandy beach walk if you haven't done it.</div>
