<div>This is good advice. I did that abut 10 years ago when I was in the market for a new pair. Also consider looking at 10x42s. The extra magnification can make a difference on a bird that's a bit far away.</div>

In my experience the best option is to go to a store and try them out side by side. Cabela's, Bass Pro, Wild Birds Unlimited and I am sure there are others that sell lots of binos. When my wife and I tried out new ones we found that, for our particular eyes,
price was not the determinant of what was best. Seemed that each pair, even superficially of the same power, worked differently.
