Hi Tweets - Squeezed by weather, family, and travel constraints, this morning we headed over a bare n' dry Stevens Pass for the Okanagan and our annual winter birding extravaganza. Our usual route from E. Wenatchee over Badger Mt. was remarkably snow and bird-free and worth skipping. From Waterville we went north on O to 15th to F north almost to Mansfield. Many Horned Larks were enjoying lots of mostly bare fields but we didn't detect any longspurs or Snow Buntings in the crowd. Bridgeport Hill, post fire, continues to disappoint. Highlight of the day was certainly Bridgeport State Park, where the absence of snow allowed for easy detection of the 'paint spots' (poop) of 4 very cute (yet ferocious) No. Saw-whet Owls. The access causeway to Washburn Is. provided good views of Canvasback and Ruddy ducks among the more common waterfowl. Okanogan Highlands tomorrow! Happy Birding! - Jon Houghton,
