Hi Tweeterdom - Today, fearing the worst for our two brave resident warblers in the coming big chill, I set out for Green Lake. Scattered snowflakes, despite the 40 degree temperature, on I5 south from Edmonds quickly dissipated as I approached the lake. No luck on the BnW Warbler around the tennis courts, but over by the shore, south of the Bathhouse, I lucked into Penny Rose and Pam Cahn - they hadn't seen the bird yet, but I was much relieved to know there were more good eyes/ears on the project. After about 45 minutes of mostly aimless wandering, I got a quick glimpse of the bird right next to the water about 100m south of the Bathhouse! I quckly called Penny and she and Pam came over and relocated the bird which gave us great looks, in sunshine(!), as it worked the bases of willows and birches, moving north towards the Bathhouse.

So far, so good! I moved on to Carkeek, where I got immediate feedback from a couple of birders that the Northern Waterthrush had been seen recently. When I got to the end of the boardwalk, it only took about 40 minutes for the one photog there to call ouy that the bird was showing! And indeed, showing very well, feeding on small mudflats and in shallow water about 20 feet west of the walkway. In sum, remarkable good looks at two lovely visitors who are probably (as the temp drops into the 20s) starting to wish they'd taken that flight to Mexico. Hope they make it!!
