Good morning tweets,

Just wanted to report the persistence of up to six American Goldfinches at a tube feeder, first seen on 21 December. Interestingly, I just saw one bird at first and then three birds and now six of them. Do they divide like amoebas? Goldfinches are by no means of regular occurrence in our wooded yard, and this is the most birds ever in the yard and the longest period I’ve ever seen them on a daily basis. Yesterday a Pine Siskin joined them, first one I’ve seen here this winter. We don’t have the invasion of siskins that we do in some years, so that was a surprise too.

Enjoy the remaining birds of 2023!
