Dear Tweeters,
Thanks again to the many Tweeters who wrote with suggestions regarding audio recording of bird sounds. A few Tweeters asked me to share what was suggested. Here is a hasty summary, in rough ABC order. Please forgive inaccuracies or oversimplifications.

·        Audacity...used to record audio only while video is played with Windows Media Player

·        BirdNetapp by Cornell

·        CorelVideo Studio

·        FFmpeg(said to be for tech aficionados)

·        Freac

·        MacaulayLibrary…refer to their “how-to” page, link is www.macaulaylibrary.org/how-to/edit-and-upload/

·        PazeraFree Audio Extractor

·        RealPlayer and Audacity…move video from phone to computer, then use Real Player’s “converter”and can use Audacity to increase the volume

·        VLCMedia Player…used successfully by one birder very recently, a birder who claimsto be not very advanced with tech (or not willing to get into complex techproducts)

·        VoiceMemo (comes with iPhone) and use Audacity

·        VoiceRecord Pro…use this instead of taking a phone video

·        Youtubecan be used…eleven step process

·        ZoomH4N hand-held recorder, separate device rather than using cell phone or camera

Yours truly,

Gary Bletsch
