Twenty-two years ago, I moved to the PNW/Ocean Shores. On one of my first
days of exploring, at the corner of Point Brown Ave. and Damon Rd. I found
a merlin standing over a kestrel in the middle of the intersection. Not
willing to let the bigger falcon kill the smaller, I drove right at them
and they scattered in seperate directions...both screaming invectives as
they flew off! Little did I know that would be the only kestrel I have seen
out here. I see them around Hoquiam from time-to-time, but not here in O.S.
