Hi tweeters,

It was a good day on the western shoulder of Larch Mountain, Clark County.
I finally found a spot that has a better chance of being not fogged as my
most visited spot on the "mountain" has been consistently fogged out this
month.

My first surprise was a flock of 12 CLARK'S NUTCRACKERS that winged their
way over this morning. I had only seen nutcracker in Clark County once
before and that was a flock of 3. To see 12 together was shocking! The
air was full of migrants during the 80 minutes that I was there.

I returned in the afternoon after completing my MoW route and found 4 more
doing aerial maneuvers at some distance. I'm pretty sure that these were
different birds as they were in a completely different direction and the
morning's birds seem to have continued on.

The other huge surprise was an immature GOLDEN EAGLE. It rose up from the
valley with a flock of Turkey Vultures and I almost fell off my perch in
disbelief. I had been looking for Golden Eagle in Clark County for 15
years and now I finally was looking at one!

Keep your eyes and ears skyward but wear sunglasses!

Jim
