Hi Tweeterdom - Imagine my chagrin that I "had" to go to Jetty Island (Everett) today, when Josh Adams confirmed that the Bar-tailed Godwit reported by several over the last week, was still there yesterday!?! (This trip was part of work I've been doing on the island for the Port of Everett since the late '80s providing recommendations to shape how they place dredged material (mostly sand) to maintain and enhance important habitats on the island.) We arrived about 0915 this morning and at my suggestion started our tour by heading south toward where Josh had reported the BTGO and Long-billed Curlew to be hanging out. To make a long story short, both birds were still there, along with several Whimbrel, many Black-bellied Plover and Western Sandpipers, and probably lesser numbers of other shorebird species. (This was a work trip after all, so I couldn't really take the time to look too hard for the less conspicuous!) For those of you with access to water transportation, the next few weeks out there should continue to be excellent for shorebirds. Happy birding! - Jon Houghton, Edmonds
