Tweets,

Today 35 of us enjoyed a great walk at Nisqually. The sun was out and
so we the birds, It was 40 degrees at the start but warmed up quickly.
We had a 3.6 low tide at 12:18 so lots of mud in the reclamation area.

Highlights were many including several FOY sightings including RUFOUS
HUMMINGBIRD, WOOD DUCK, VIRGINIA RAIL and SORA, KILLDEER, ROCK PIGEON,
TREE SWALLOW, AMERICAN GOLDFINCH, and SAVANNAH SPARROW.

There are lots of lingering waterfowl as well. We had 2 EURASIAN
WIGEON and an intergrade wigeon. There were several COMMON GOLDENEYE
and a pair of SURF SCOTERS out on McAllister Creek and we had some
great action with BALD EAGLES chasing gulls and ducks just off the
McAllister Creek overlook.

On my return trip I watched a GREAT BLUE HERON finish off a garter
snake and then move another 10 or 15 yards and eat another snake.

Spring is close and migration should start in earnest soon so activity
should pick up.

For the day I had 50 species and now have 73 for the year. The only
mammals I saw were a couple of BLACK-TAILED DEER.

Until next week....
