While leading a Seattle Audubon Neighborhood Bird Walk at Richmond Beach Park this morning, Saturday, March 16, I photographed a bird perched briefly atop a tree at the northernmost end of the highest path in the park, which runs north/south. At the time (10:15am), I wasn’t sure what the distant bird was, but now that I’ve seen my photos on my computer, it was clearly a TOWNSEND’S SOLITAIRE. It soon flew, heading north out of the park and out of view. Maybe it will linger in the area awhile, or maybe it’s already moving on.

I’ll post a photo on eBird later today.

We also spotted 2 trumpeter/tundra swans flying north above the Sound.
