[Tweeters] Would you believe a Purple Finch?

Hi all,
Maybe I'm the only one who watched Maxwell Smart.
In spite of the fact that Frank Caruso experienced the "miserable" aspect of the Great Miserable 2019 Beacon Hill Tewa Stakeout, he was very kind to quickly email me a story of a bird on Whidbey Island that last year had been identified at least tentatively as a Cassin's Vireo by several birders but ultimately turned out to be a Purple Finch.  The Cassin's-Vireo-like calls of the Purple Finch, which we weren't aware of, can be found on the Sibley ap, he says.  Furthermore, Caruso heard these calls today and recently in the Edmonds area coming from Purple Finches.
Come to think of it, that makes sense as the bird was near the very top of the tree and that is a traditional Purple Finch site.

Best wishes,
Ed Newbold
