Hi Tweets,

Yesterday, January 13, eleven birders joined Barbara and me for a Seattle
Audubon field trip on the West Seattle waterfront. We had temps in the 40s
and unsettled weather early, but finished the trip in bright sunshine. We
began at Jack Block Park, continued around Duwamish Head to the Alki
business district for coffee, then continued past the lighthouse, birded the
open area near the treatment plant on Beach Dr SW, ending the trip across
from Me-Kwa-Mooks Park. Most unusual birds for this trip were the
previously reported MOUNTAIN CHICKADEE we relocated in the pines at the
treatment plant, and two flyover swans at Jack Block Park. We got great
views of HARLEQUIN DUCKS and BLACK TURNSTONES, but unfortunately only a
fleeting look at a small flock of SURFBIRDS. 50 BRANT on the beach with
passers-by at Alki was an unusual sight. Altogether our trip list totaled
46 species.

Good birding!
