>> Yesterday was a great day for birding in Skagit County. Not only were the birds excellent, but the temperature was in the low 50's with no rain.
>> Our first stop was the Blue Jay in Bow.
>> A short drive and we were looking at the Prairie Falcon on Sunset Road.
>> Late in the day we found the Wylie Slough Black Phoebe flycatching on the pond adjacent to the parking lot that has the shelter.
>> We were fortunate to run into Neil Zimmerman who put us onto a Short-eared Owl, Rough-legged Hawk and Northern Shrike at West 90 and a Long-tailed Duck at Samish Island. Here is a photo of the Shrike.
>> We also saw Merlins in the town of Edison and on Fir Island.
>> Edison Merlin:
>> Video of Fir Island Merlin feeding:
>> Hank & Karen Heiberg
>> Lake Joy
>> N.E. of Carnation, WA
