This is day four of having three subspecies of "slate-colored" DARK-EYED JUNCOS at our feeders six miles east of Washougal. Along with the more expected Cassiar, there is a bird that appears to be a east coast type Slate-colored and a White-winged which breeds in the Badlands area of the upper Midwest and winters in New Mexico and Arizona. The White-winged is a gorgeous bird and easy to spot as it is such a light bluish-slate color that it reminds me of a Cerulean Warbler. I have posted photos on facebook on the Western Washington Birders, the Washington Birding, and the Advanced Bird ID sites where there has been some discussion of the photos. We also had two TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRES drop in this morning for a few minutes, our second sighting here this year. Wilson Cady
