Today while birding the Tacoma waterfront for blooming breeding-bird
plumage, especially Horned Grebe or Common Loon, Cathy and I noticed a Mink
skulking in and out of the large rocks just just west of The Silver Cloud
Inn. It was a treat to follow its movements for about 5-6 minutes. First
view was from no more than 20yds. Does anyone have any indication of how
special (rare) this siting is? It's inherent wildness may be a good sign
for the environment of that heavily humanized area.
