Tweets,

Today 20 of us enjoyed a good walk at Nisqually. It was 40 Degrees and
sunny at the start and we were treated to an AMERICAN BEAVER on the
pond at the visitor center. Our numbers were down as none of the
regulars from north of exit 114 made it through the traffic tie up.

It was a pretty routine day with lots of waterfowl and most of the
usual passerines out and about. One highlight was an ORANGE CROWNED
WARBLER near the gate to the maintenance road near the orchard that
gave everyone great views. It was with a mixed flock of CHICKADEES and
KINGLETS.

There were 20 some GREATER YELLOWLEGS out in the reclamation area as
well as a few DUNLIN and LEAST SANDPIPERS.

A juvenile NORTHERN SHRIKE made an appearance near the start of the
estuary boardwalk and there were several COMMON GOLDENEYE out on
McAllister Creek.

For the day I had 48 species and have 140 for the year. Mammals seen
were AMERICAN BEAVER, HARBOR SEAL, and CALIFORNIA SEA LION.

Until next week, Merry Christmas to all......
