Sorry had to take a break and go birding in the Blue Mountains with MerryLynn.
The goose now walked towards him. In disbelief the young Ph.d backed off and away from the now very close Brant. He wished he had caught and placed some kind of band on the wild sea goose years ago out there on that cold foggy island. The goose followed him just a few feet and then sat down on its belly in the sand of the upper beach and watched him. The newly minted doctor soon sat on a washed up log contemplating the chances of this goose actually being the same bird he had started his serious studies with in the North Atlantic. Pulling out his camera the young man took three or four photos of this unique Brant and then slowly moved down the beach. Several hours later he returned home to do some comparison with photos he had taken on the island. A late evening rain storm blew in and early the next morning the sun rose just over the eastern trees. Looking out his homes front window towards the sea he spotted a dark goose in his yard picking and feeding on the grass of his lawn, its white spot on the back of its black head very clear as the shadows vanished from the night.
