[Tweeters] shades of fall...before the birds

Day after day, colors kept slowly changing throughout October here at the Barboretum. With all this rain & wind, one now can almost find more color on the footpaths than projecting or hanging from branches. Halloween is still showing up decked in much orange. I love the displays - they offset the drear. They are the art I have created over the decades, with a lot of help from Ma Nature and Pa Pruner. Birds have temporarily played second fiddle to the plants, but they are here and keep arriving, to be viewed more easily on soon-to-be bare branches. Plenty of time coming, for binoculars to come back into play, as the tapestry of color goes away. Plants have been having a brief heyday. The fungi are also showing up, adding earthy odor, and providing snacks for the wild critters, and changing over the color scheme to basic browns, with an occasional flare-up of off-white spots.

Happy Pumpkin Day, boys and ghouls :-)
