It looks like in these photos at least, that this is a molt issue somewhat common with Chickadees.. rather than and Leucism on the first one.. however the second photo just a bit of 'pie-bald'. Not too uncommon. It would be interesting if this is molting or actual Pie-bald. The reason I question I guess, is only due to some species.. take the Eagle < horrible size/kind comparison.. the 2 1/2year molt leaves some Bald Eagles looking really pie-bald. Yet, this is a common occurrence. ? Just my thought. http://www.sammyclickit.com/Wildlife/Birds/Aging-Guides/i-SgXgtfh/A Here is an example of what I was thinking. ? Again, just a thought to add to the discussion.

My wife and I have been seeing two such chickadees on our feeders in Sammamish for the past two weeks. One has a lot of white on the head and back; the other just on its back. I took the photos shown at the following link 12 days ago but we’ve been seeing them pretty much every day since: https://www.flickr.com/photos/gene-s_photos/albums/72157659064531645 Gene BeallGene.beall at gmail.comSammamish, WA From: tweeters-bounces at mailman1.u.washington.edu [mailto:tweeters-bounces at mailman1.u.washington.edu] On Behalf Of Lyn Topinka

Among the two kinds of chickadees that frequent my feeder, I saw a third, looking as if it were wearing a white mantle. It didn't look like a Mountain Chickadee, my ID is a leucistic Black-capped Chickadee. If anyone thinks my ID is wrong, please let me know.
