Tweeters is the best. When I asked for info to
help me photograph a Ruffed Grouse I got several
great specific responses. Saturday I followed up
on one and it looked like a fabulous area - except
at least that morning it was overrun with hunters
- not conducive to a grouse sighting. So I went
back this morning - nothing on the way up but
three grouse on the way down - one a partially
displaying male, one a rufous adult and the third
- possibly a Sooty/possibly a third Ruffed.
Pictures of all.

The area is up FR 38 off of Mosquito Lake Road
(turn at the quarry) in Whatcom County. A great
road - 12+ miles with beautiful streams and good
forest - and looks just right for grouse. The
recommendation came from Casey McHugh who has had
grouse on bike roads up the road often. Was not
so sure early a.m. but sure delivered later. Two
grouse were near the top of the road and the third
was within a mile of the bottom. Thank you Casey
and others with recommendations. I would have
gone to number 2 on the list if grouse had eluded
me this morning. No longer necessary (but may
anyhow...).

Focus now goes to 3 other birds seen but not YET
photographed this year: Lapland Longspur,
American Tree Sparrow and Franklin's Gull.
