Hi Tweets,

An absolutely sunny and gorgeous day at Neah Bay for Heather and I. The day started a bit slower than anticipated, as i had to scrape the ice off the car windows! We started at the Seawatch at the greenhouses near the Forestry bldg and heard the loud Chink of the male HOODED WARBLER. it was mostly in the brambles but popped up into the midstory of the Alders several times for perfect looks. The seawatch produced a group of 8 Ancient Murrelets

We then walked around town hoping for very tenacious earlier see vagrants - none to be found. Until the 3rd walk thru where we found the PALM WARBLER at 2nd and Fort. Never did see a YR Warbler the whole weekend.
Behind the mini mart were 55 Black Turnstones with 1 Surfbird, 4 Dunlin & 2 BB Plover.

Hobuck Beach had a nice Peregrine fly by, but no Tropical Kingbird. Our consolation prize for yellow breasted birds were 2 W Meadowlark.

The STP on the 2nd try yielded the male TUFTED DUCK with a group of L Scaup. And just a bit up the road we heard the Chink snd then saw a Swamp Sparrow on the side of the road. A final hike out to Cape Flattery was wonderful as always and actually drier than usual. Despite lots of scanning no pelagic birds. However, just below the platform were 29 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS. The most i have ever seen together.

A great weekend to be on the coast.
