Tweeters,

Though cool at the start (53 deg), the day - and the birds (56 species) -
warmed up quickly for the 22 of us that walked the traditional 3-mile loop
on and around the JBLM Eagles Pride Golf Course. New species for the walk
were HERMIT WARBLER and PURPLE MARTIN. The latter was heard only, but in
addition to hearing two Hermit Warblers, many of us were able to see
another. MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER - a species of which we've only found one
representative (though during several months each year) - were plentiful: we
located two pairs and six additional singing males. BLACK-THROATED GRAY
WARBLERS were in many places along our route, as were PACIFIC-SLOPE
FLYCATCHERS. The GREAT HORNED OWLS were stumbled upon, and we spotted three
of them; one of which afforded everyone great views of its back. Many new
species for the year, some of which were HOUSE WREN, all the flycatchers,
CASSIN'S VIREO (pair), WILSON'S WARBLER, and BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK.

Additional details and accounts are in the list from eBird, which also
includes several excellent photos (MacGillivray's Warbler, Pacific-slope
Flycatcher, etc.) from Mike Walker.
