Light can really play tricks with your eyes. I saw two beautiful rosy-headed cowbirds today in Brush Prairie at the Wildlife Botanical Gardens. Then they flew into the trees and morphed into Bronze-headed Cowbirds.  There were at least 6 of them there, perhaps more.  If they are doing nest raiding with the locally nesting birds, maybe they'll pull their little parasitic tricks on the House Sparrows that seem to have taken over all the nesting boxes. At least the Cowbirds are natives.  Other birds I saw were:  Anna's Hummingbirds, American Goldfinch, Golden-crowned Sparrows, White-crowned Sparrows (both with white and gray bellies), a male and a female Black-headed Grosbeak, Dark-eyed Juncos, Song Sparrows, Mourning Doves, House Sparrows, House Finches, Starlings, and a few straggling Pine Siskins.  I could hear Red-winged Blackbirds but did not see any.
