I saw similar numbers of birds on Saturday the 21st, along Foster Island and beneath the 520 bridge construction, while driving by. I estimated 500, but I think that your number is more accurate! Everyone in the car was amazed at the numbers.

Today I measured the string of birds and they stretched almost one mile across the lake. I've thought of them as staging for migration but they're still here almost to the end of March, which seems past the time for them to move north. I don't remember seeing such a large flock in the past several years and it seems unusual. Does anyone have thoughts or other information about this group? Maybe we should start a pool where folks can pick a date when they'll all take off.
