This past Sunday-Monday, Evan Houston and I did a short backpack on Cleman Mountain, handily avoiding the rain but not the wind. We also made stops at Oak Creek WA, the Angel Lake burn area and a couple of places on Bethel Ridge. It was a nice, though brief, trip through some favorite areas, which provided some worthwhile sightings and over 80 species of birds.

Golden Eagle - Oak Creek WA
White-throated Swift - a few at Oak Creek WA, Angel Lake Burn
Lewis’s Woodpecker - several at Oak Creek WA
Williamson’s Sapsucker - Cleman Mountain Rd 1713, Bald Mountain Rd, Angel Lake burn
Red-naped Sapsucker - Oak Creek WA
Black-backed Woodpecker - 2 at Angel Lake burn; one was ‘sharing’ a snag with a Hairy Woodpecker, about 1 meter apart
Gray Flycatcher - lots! on Cleman Mountain and Bethel Ridge locations; several family groups with begging young
Dusky Flycatcher - Bethel Ridge burn
ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER - 2 at Oak Creek WA
