A good change of subject.. Lazuli Buntings.

As I posted.. I have a Lazuli Bunting. I have now seen 2 males and 1 female. They appear to be nesting or building a nest by the pattern of flying and their routines. The Male has the Female split that looks like he should be sitting on eggs.. he is very cute by the way. They have their own gallery now.

So the question.. I have yet to get a shot off of the Female. It always seems to stop short of coming over to eat with the Male.. staying in the trees or hidden.. probably dumb luck on my part. Their flying is consistent with building a nest. I read that they will do two nests some Summers. Do they normally nest in our area?

So the Male flies over to a tree overhead and all the way over, two stops on the way, was his mate.. or so I thought.. but this one wasn't yellow.. it looked Black and white. I did get off a shot.. not a great shot.. but a shot none the less.. it was a Female alright.. a Female Black Throated Gray Warbler.. hmph. It flew back with it when it left. Have you ever heard of them being together like that? Can't find anything on this one.. maybe some of you might have witnessed this?

Peace and Good Birding..
