I visited the Lower River Rd area this morning stopping at Lower River Rd Pool first. Water has dropped, as in the case everywhere, and created some nice mudflats. Although I did not find anything unusual I did have 120 least and 30 western sandpipers also 40 killdeer, 48 great blue heron and one great egret.

I then checked out Shillipoo Lake and found similar water levels. Here there were more ducks with the highlight being 110 great egrets and 60 great blue herons.

I moved over to Post Office lake where I had two Caspian terns flying the river and a singing yellow-breasted chat. While there I listened to what, sounded like the call of a Alder flycatcher. I did find the bird and listened to it and it did indeed sing alder calls and somewhat song but it also sang and called willow flycatcher as well. It was exciting for a short bit. The bird's plumage was willow. As I was about to leave I had 48 American white pelicans fly over.

I then visited the flushing channel at Vancouver Lake which was flowing big time. The river is high. The only action here were the fisherman catching little chad looking fish as fast as they could reel em in. The lake has no shoreline because of the high river levels. There were grebes in the distance but to far to mess with.
