Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday February 12. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 503-292-6855

The BEAN GOOSE continues at the Nestucca NWR. On February 6 a FRIGATEBIRD
was photographed at the Cove in Seaside. It did not remain. A RUSTY
BLACKBIRD is now being seen at Lakeside in northern Coos County. The Yaquina
Head BURROWING OWL is still being seen. The HOODED ORIOLE, BULLOCK¹S ORIOLE,
and TENNESSEE WARBLER continue to be seen in North Bend and Coos Bay.

Up to three SNOWY OWLS were seen during the week north of Pendleton near
Weston. The Fern Ridge Reservoir SNOWY OWL continues to be seen.

Early RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS were reported February 5 near Waldport and
February 8 near West Linn. MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS and SAY¹S PHOEBES are now
arriving in Central Oregon. WHITE-FRONTED GEESE appear to be on the move.
BROWN PELICANS continue along the coast.

An unusually large flock of about 10,000 SNOW GEESE, including up to five
Blue Geese is now being seen on Sauvie Island and in the Vancouver Lake
lowlands north of Vancouver. On February 8 a LARK SPARROW was in Eugene. A
GOLDEN EAGLE was seen February 6 near McMinnville.

That¹s it for this week.
