Tweeters,

I birded the River S Unit of Ridgefield NWR, Clark County this morning and
I was surprised how many species I saw or heard. The total was 83 (
http://ridgefieldfriends.org/visit-the-refuge/bird-sightings/) and included
some surprises for me:

House Wren - seemed quite early - is this the first one in Washington this
year (other than Neah Bay where everything shows up)?

Townsend's Warbler - This is only the 3rd or 4th one I've ever seen at the
River S Unit.

Turkey Vulture - 6 (presumed migrants as they all circled upward and
streamed north

Shorebirds were impressive at high tide (
http://www.ezfshn.com/Tides/USA/Washington/Vancouver):

Long-billed Dowitcher: 58
Western Sandpiper: 1
Least Sandpiper: 13
Dunlin: 45
Greater Yellowlegs: 22
Lesser Yellowlegs: 2+
Killdeer: 8

In my Battle Ground yard this afternoon, I had a visit from a bright
alternate plumaged male American Goldfinch - a ray of sunshine before the
advancing rain.

Keep your ears and eyes skyward!

Jim
