Kent Woodruff and the Forest Service are glad to continue with their annual
hawk fest at Pateros this weekend despite all of the recent fires in that
region.

This might be a good time to go over and visit the Chelan Ridge hawk
migration site and help out the town as it recovers.

If you want to see migrating hawks, this is currently the best place here
in WA. Kent has been banding there for 17 years now and it is the most
consistent location to visit and see a variety of fall hawks (including
rare Broad-winged Hawks in WA)

An added benefit will be Jerry Ligouris talk on Friday night at 7 PM in
Pateros. Jerry is one of the best and has written two books on hawk ID. He
will be going up to the hawk watch site on Saturday too, so you can learn
from one of the experts in the field.

Here is an important final note. Because there will be a lot of people
attending this weekend, they are discouraging people driving up to the
ridge on Saturday on their own to avoid congestion on the one lane FS
roads.

Instead, they will be providing a free shuttle service from Pateros up to
the count site on Saturday. To sign-up for the shuttle, please go to
www.hawkwatch.org to register.

Go hawks.
