Just before noon I counted 12 ANCIENT MURRELET on Discovery Bay from my
yard near Gardiner Beach. It was sunny and the bay was calm. The light
tip on the end of their bills looked quite yellow in the sunlight. The
largest grouping was 5 birds. A lone bird flew around and finally hit the
water and stayed under for 5 seconds and then popped to the surface.

My yard list for the day was 59 species. A female COOPER'S HAWK was
perched on my feeder pole and I walked toward her and she
flew away. Discovery Bay was calm for at least half the day and the bird
activity was terrific. There were 5 River Otter just below the yard on the
water and they spent over 2 hours catching fish. In looking through the
scope I think several of the fish were Pacific Staghorn Sculpin.
