Hi Tweeters & Inland NW Birders -

We've got the latest updated version of the 2014 County Year List Project up online at Washington Birder. Almost all counties have reported in with totals through the end of October. As ever, County Compilers, especially for the under-birded counties, would appreciate receiving reports of any birds seen in their counties not yet noted on this spreadsheet.

The flood of rare birds at the end of this period seems to have helped make up some ground on last year's totals.. The state year total is 390, still 4 species lower than last year and 6 lower than the 2012 Oct total of 396. 320 species have been reported in Eastern WA [down one from 2013, and the same as 2012], and Western WA has seen 359 species [down from one from last year, and 6 from 2012's 365 at this point ].

17 counties have higher totals than this time last year, 20 have lower totals [and Columbia & Whatcom matched their 2013 totals].

25 counties are within ten species of their total for this time last year.

If you'd like to take a look at where things stand, the list and many other interesting files are at the Washington Birder website:

Thanks to all the compilers and all those pitching in to sketch a picture of another year's birds in WA. Looking forward to seeing how 2014 wraps up!
