> Hi Tweets,

> We just returned form a great trip to The Big Island and on the way to the airport visited the Kona/Kailua Waste Water Treatment Plant where we found a Spotted Redshank that had been reported by others in the same location. In addition there were many Hawaiian Coots, Black-necked Stilts, Ruddy Turnstones, Pacific Golden Plovers, Wandering Tattlers and Black-crowned Night Herons. We also visited the end of the Mauna Loa Road at 6,662 feet and watched 'I'iwi feeding on the yellow Māmane flowers. There were flocks of ʻAmakihi within touching distance. We were staying in Volcano Village at the 'Apapane Guesthouse in the rainforest with a canopy of 'Ōhi'a Lehua trees and many 'Apapane feeding and singing on the red flowers. Cindy and Dale McBeath are the owners of Enchanted Rainforest Cottages; Cindy is an excellent bird guide and it is a comfortable place to stay in the Volcano area.
