Hi Tweets,

Yesterday, May 19, Barbara and I had a leisurely day of birding the south
half of Whidbey Island with Steve Dang. We started at Clinton Beach County
Park , then continued on to Deer Lake Road, Rollinghill Rd, Maxwelton, the
marsh on Ewing Road, Lincoln St access, Deer Lagoon, Langley Cemetery, back
to the other side of Deer Lagoon, then on to Mutiny Bay, South Whidbey
State Park, Crockett Lake, and made our last stop Fort Casey State Park.
The forecast called for showers that never materialized, and we had partly
cloudy skies with temps mostly in the 50s and 60s.

In tallying 84 species we had the following highlights: late shorebirds --7
WHIMBRELS and 5 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS at Deer Lagoon, several tarrying
PACIFIC LOONS at Maxwelton were a treat in their spring plumage, 2 pairs of
AMERICAN BITTERNS displayed at the marsh on Ewing Rd, and on Rollinghill Rd
we had a small flock of code 4 EVENING GROSBEAKS.

Another great day on the island!

Good birding!
