Hello Tweets,
Sorry for the late posting. These birds were seen during a Saturday morning walk on May 3.
Carol and I spotted a Bullock's Oriole in the trees at the beginning of the new boardwalk along the mouth of Issaquah Creek.
We also saw five warblers in various areas of the park: Yellow-rumped, Orange-crowned, Wilson's and Yellow Warblers and Common Yellowthroat.
A couple of Warbling Vireos and a flock of five Western Tanagers were also seen.
Brown-headed Cowbirds were also present and they will present challenges for the warblers which choose to nest in the park.
During the morning waves of showers forced us to take cover several times, but the birds became more active following the rain. We were taught about this phenomenon by our guide in Costa Rica last summer, and we're glad we hung around to see the same thing happen here.
Good birding,
Andy McCormick
