Tweets,

Wednesday 55 of us enjoyed a great day at Nisqually! It was sunny and warm and the birds cooperated. There was a -1.6 low tide at 1:12 pm so there was lots of mud in the reclamation area.

Birds of the day included YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD, VIRGINIA RAIL and SORA.

Once again YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS were everywhere and we did see YELLOW, ORANGE-CROWNED and WILSON'S WARBLERS throughout the refuge.

There was a good mix of waterfowl and the first goslings of the year were being shown off by their proud parents. Other waterfowl were paired up.

The YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD was spotted from the twin barns viewing platform out in the marsh inside the new dike. The SORA was heard near the turn off to the twin barns and the VIRGINIA RAIL was calling near the start of the estuary boardwalk.

For the day I had 49 species and now have 98 for the year.

the only mammal seen was a MUSKRAT.

Until next week....
