Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday March 27. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

The Ankeny NWR YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER, Hillsboro RUSTY BLACKBIRD, and the
North Plains YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER were all seen during the week.

Migrations this week included OSPREY, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, and an increase
in YELLOW-RUMPED and ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS. RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS were
also more conspicuous.

Herring runs into Yaquina Bay during the week has attracted large numbers of
all three scoters, scaup, five LONG-TAILED DUCKS, and HARLEQUIN DUCKS. A
LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen March 24 on the Nehalem Sewage Ponds.

On March 21 a male TUFTED DUCK was with about 1500 LESSER SCAUP, 160 GREATER
SCAUP on the Columbia River west of the Portland Airport. That day a
ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOW was at Troutdale. On March 22 five MOUNTAIN and three
WESTERN BLUEBIRDS, a SAY¹S PHOEBE, and a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE were at Powell
Butte Park in Gresham.

Among the many hawks along Jackson School Road near the Hillsboro Airport
March 24 were two SWAINSON¹S HAWK and a HARLAN¹S HAWK. On March 24 an early
YELLOW WARBLER was reported in Eugene. Also in Eugene March 25 was a female
WILSON¹S WARBLER. Up to 40 WHITE PELICANS, 40 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, and
3000 DUNLIN were at Fern Ridge Reservoir during the week.

On March 22 seven LONG-BILLED CURLEWS were at Hatfield Lake near Bend. Four
WESTERN SANDPIPERS were at the Prineville Sewage Ponds March 26.

Several possible TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS were at feeders at Malheur NWR
Headquarters during the week.

That¹s it for this week.
