Hey Tweets...as most of you are aware by now, the festival is coming up the
last weekend of April, the 25th through the 27th. I would like to take this
opportunity to invite you to join us in celebrating the spring migration of
the shorebirds.

Our Friday night keynote speaker this year is Dr. John Marzluff, professor
of wildlife science at the University of Washington, with a program
titled The Gifts of the Crow. Love them or not, these birds are fascinating
to observe and way too smart to ignore. His talk will be preceded by a
dessert social which starts promptly at 7pm.

I also have just six remaining seats available for the Friday field trip to
Tokeland, Grayland, and Westport. Our field trips to Ocean Shores, Point
Grenville, Lake Quinault and the Rain Forest, Westport, and the Grays
Harbor National Wildlife Refuge still have seats available, as do the
lectures on shorebird identification and the photographs featured in Tom
Rowley's wonderful Joy of Shorebirds.

Our Saturday banquet, catered by the highly rated O'Brien's, is always a
gastronomic pleasure, and the auction following is the main source of funds
for our local education programs. In order to assure a continuing interest
in responsible conservation, we must educate the children. Your generous
patronage helps with that goal.

And speaking of children, we will have our 2nd Annual Procession of the
Shorebirds! The participating children will make masks to wear during this
parade, led by some rather large, costumed shorebirds; guaranteed to make
you smile.

Come join us for a weekend of wonder, and enjoy the pleasures of birding
with friends.
