Sorry, nice story, but hawks don't overeat. When they ingest a large meal,
the food is just stored in the crop area so the bird can take off with it
instead of just sitting there on the ground where it is dangerous. The
capacity of the crop is finite (ask any falconer). I have observed several
species of raptor with maxed out crops many times. None have ever exhibited
any difficulty flying away after a large meal. Think about it.
Just more hawk misinformation. Something else was going on with the
Red-tail mentioned in the article.
