After having only a couple of warblers pass through on each of the last three days today had a great movement of birds here on Mt. Pleasant, at the west end of the Columbia River Gorge. As usual the main movement took place over a two-hour period starting about 8am. From the deck, Susan and I observed 2 RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS, 1 HAIRY WOODPECKER, 1 WESTERN3 PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS, 1 HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHER, 2 WILLOW FLYCATCHERS, 10 WARBLING VIREOS, 1 HERMIT THRUSH, 12 BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLERS, 12 WILSON'S WARBLERS (all males) and 8 WESTERN TANAGERS along with the resident birds. This movement of migrants seems a earlier than normal, we usually don't experience these mixed flocks until late August here. Wilson Cady
